We are Saturday, April 28 and take the departure to 7:30 Lacamte Philippe and myself towards Ben Ahin. I've never done these caves and am looking forward to get there. Phillippe has some memories, having made 11 or 12 years earlier.
We follow the road to arrive at the entrance of a large property with some abandoned buildings. We leave civilization on the left to follow a path. To find the entrance of Trou Manto, it is not very difficult, we follow the path mentioned above, until we approach poles connected by a steel cable. We follow and finally arrive at the underground feeder.
We enter Manto and follow the path. When we choose from below and above, we go to the bottom and arrive + -4 meters further to a narrow passage that gives access to the main network (Figure 3). We decided at that location to view the junction Manto Saint-Etienne only to return later. fig.3 Philippe outgoing Lacamte the low passage. Photo F.Courcelles
The junction found, we leave to explore Manto, and arrive in the great hall where are the concretions shaped cow's udder. We go down the hall by several photo essays, but too many particles flying. In the photos, it looked like it was raining. At the bottom of this room, we are not going directly keukenwerkblad to the well, but borrow the access to the right. We explore everything right, and finally back in the direction from the well. The time I team the descent, Philippe made some pictures keukenwerkblad including that of Fig.4 Fig.4 little gur just before the well. Photo P.Lacamte
We return down the well and continue to the left this time. So we go below a flat ceiling. Then it goes back on the right. Philippe up and realize that it is quite slippery. We come from climbing. The rise should not be a problem but the descent will be more delicate. I'll get our second rope we had left with the kits at the base of the well, to ensure our return.
Climbing done, we arrive in a lowered room. Beware stalactites because they are very low. In this room, a pretty gur therein (see fig.6). It's a beautiful view we offer these concretions (see fig.7).
He came time to drink the soup. We descend abseiling rope both to return to the kits. I find a flat place to heat water. Pending this, we continue our photo shoot while we are amateurs in this field. See below some pictures taken in this room.
The warming soup made, I back the well. While Philip unequips, I use to take some pictures, many of which are missed by small hand movements (see fig.8)
A little attention to the room to the left and I start étroiture the first and the second. Philippe passes the first, I begin the third (see fig.10) and really starts to rub. I do not go !!! I go back down to better go back with arms forward. keukenwerkblad To pass, I have to completely empty the air from my lungs and it repeatedly (this is where we regret the fries of the week ...). Philippe I warn that the place is free and in two, three movements, it comes out (it does not go as frequently to the chip shop!). Fig.10 Kit on the right pass the 3rd étroiture. Photo F. Courcelles
We then visit St. Stephen's cave. We meet four black and yellow salamander, toad and a 4 or 5 bats. We arrive at the exit of our journey (see fig.11) Salamander near the entrance Saint Etienne Fig.11 Output or rather cave entrance Saint-Etienne. Photo F. Courcelles
When we go out, we take the path that goes up and perceive another hole where a construction is underway. In this hole, which we do not know the name, we are almost certain that this is the home of an animal. Indeed, several bones litter the ground. Also, when visiting a branch, I noticed keukenwerkblad excrement (not small). The hole is located above the Saint-Etienne cave entrance.
